nA. Main verb: the main verb in the sentence

ne.g. The baby shakes the rattle.

nB. Auxiliary verb:

n1. Primary – be, have, do

e.g. The baby is shaking the rattle.

n2. Modals – can, could, shall, should, may,

might, will, would, must, ought to

e.g. The baby should shake the rattle.

6. ADVERBS

Definition:

nModify verbs, adjectives, another adverb

n3 forms:

n positive: slow

n comparative: slower

n superlative: slowest

nRefers to:

nManner (how)

nTime (when)

nPlace (where)

nFrequency (how often)

nDegree (how much)

7. PREPOSITION

nWords signaling location or direction

n2 forms

nSimple: one word

ne.g. over, inside

nComplex: 2-3 words

ne.g. next to, on top of

8.CONJUNCTIONS

nConnects words, phrases, clauses, sentences

n3 Categories:

nCoordinating : and, or, but, yet,…

nCorrelative : both x and y, either x or y

nSubordinating: when, if, why, since, because…
